If you are the victim of a type of crime covered by the California Victim Compensation Board and reside in Southern California, Eco Bear charges a flat rate of $1,000 for crime scene cleaning. $1,000 is the maximum amount of CalVCB reimburses for crime scene cleanup.
Payment is due when cleanup is completed. We will provide you with a detailed invoice to submit to CalVCB when you seek reimbursement. In addition, we provide a series of before and after photos to ensure that your application for reimbursement is fully documented.
Types of Crimes Covered by the California Victim Compensation Board
The California Victim Compensation Board provides compensation to people who are the victims of crimes that result in:
- Death
- Bodily injury
- The threat of bodily injury
- Emotional injury (in certain circumstances)
Keep in mind that the Board not only provides compensation to the direct victim of a violent crime but others who’ve experience economic loss as the result of a crime perpetrated on someone else. Prime examples of such individuals include:
- Spouse
- Parent
- Child
Other individuals may also qualify for compensation, depending on the unique facts and circumstances of a crime. For example, if a guest in a person’s home becomes the victim of a violent assault committed by an intruder, the homeowner may qualify for compensation from CalVCB for the costs of crime scene cleanup.
CalVCB delineates an exemplary list of violent crimes that can qualify for compensation. This list includes, but is not limited, to the following violent crimes:
- Homicide
- Robbery
- Hate crimes
- Drunk driving
- Vehicular manslaughter
- Human trafficking
- Stalking
- Online harassment
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse
- Assault
- Sexual assault
- Elder abuse

How to Apply for Assistance From the California Victim Compensation Board
The application for assistance from CalVCB, including crime scene cleanup compensation, is available at the Board’s website. The application itself is available in a number of different languages:

In addition to the application, supporting documentation also needs to be submitted to CalVCB. This includes:
- The police report of a crime
- Bills and receipts
- Other documents related to the crime and your losses
